Supporting Pregnancy with Pilates, Massage and a little bit of Magic.

Pregnancy is one of the most amazing, and challenging things a woman can go through. There are so many steps to getting pregnant and supporting a healthy pregnancy. Lana June Health has many options available to help support mothers from the beginning, in-between steps, and all the way to the 4th trimester. There are some pretty magical steps to Lanas fertility massages, and supporting womb health. Over the years Lana has treated women with fertility issues, abdominal surgeries, miscarriages, late-term loss, and surrogates pregnancys. Her practice continues to grow with expansive knowledge that offers a one-stop-shop from the beginning, all the way to baby massage. Yep, Lana does baby massage and will teach you how to massage your baby.

A lot of women go through a pregnancy loss and need some guidance and support for such a sensitive and private topic. This is where Lanas Mayan Womb massage is a great treatment. to get ready for pregnancy or to try again. After a pregnancy loss, women receive a healing touch that supports that nurtures the mom and the baby spirit.

When you're transforming and growing a human, it can be nothing short of feeling uncomfortable. Having support like massage and Pilates before, during, and after can help mom to feel great even when she might not. Prenatal/postnatal massage is so beneficial to help get those aches and pains moving along. Open the hips, help flush the body safely, connect mom and baby as one. But how is pilates good for mommas?

Pilates is great at building core strength. If your abdominals, back, and pelvic floor are toned, your pregnancy may be more comfortable. Taking care of your body before, during, and after pregnancy could help knock-out the long-term complications that come with carrying a baby. Pilates is also famous to help mommas get that body back after having that beautiful baby, or babies in my case.

First, check with your doctor or midwife if you are already pregnant before starting an exercise program. If you have never done Pilates before, it will be important for you to find a prenatal Pilates class or an instructor who can give you a lot of one on one attention. booking private sessions might be beneficial for your safety. It is not recommended that you begin doing Pilates on your own if you haven’t already learned the basics and you have the fundamentals down. Check also with your diet as exercising can burn more calories. When I was pregnant with twins, I could eat double the calories! As your body changes and your baby grows bigger, your center of gravity will shift. You may find that you need to be a bit more cautious when doing certain things that you are quite used to doing like getting up and down off the floor, getting into your car, and even rolling in your bed. Pilates and massage can help support your daily movements. Women can experience more soft tissue trauma like strains and because of the hormonal influx making their muscles stretchy. You will want to be sure not to overstretch or overwork. Working out is going to feel different at this stage of life. Working in a smaller range of motion is often a good way to tone the pelvic floor. As the baby grows, working on breathing techniques will help with re-oxygenating you and the baby but it will also support and strengthen your diaphragm.

There is a condition that sometimes occurs later in a pregnancy called, “diastasis recti”, where there is a separation of the abdominal muscles. This is very common with childbirth and is supported with Pilates before pregnancy or after pregnancy with a medical release. Pregnancy could be a very rewarding time to connect with the incredible journey your body is traveling through. There are a lot of steps, many choices women can make, and not every pregnancy looks or feels the same.
